What is Improve Ag?

Improve Ag is a new marketplace for agriculture supplies in Australia. We are a purely online business, bringing the best experience to customers looking for a wide range, good prices, and sustainable practices.

Improve Ag has noticed that the best practice for sustainable agriculture is not as accessible as it should be. We want to show how the smartest people in the industry can grow sustainably while also growing the bottom line.

What is influencing our decisions? 

Australian agriculture has a history of setting global best practices and Improve Ag wants to help continue this trend into the sustainable future. The Australian government has legislated emissions reductions of 43% below 2005 levels by 2030, and further committed to net zero by 2050 (Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry). Equally, all state governments have committed to net zero by at least 2050. In 2021, agriculture in Australia contributed to 16.8% of Australia’s net greenhouse gas emissions. As Australian farmers we have a vital role to play in feeding a growing world in a way that doesn’t destroy it in the process. With scientists constantly pushing for more ambitious targets and evidence for climate change becoming more blatant every year, it is reasonable to assume these targets will continue to shorten.

The government are not the only body putting pressure on the industry to improve its practices. The largest retailers have made commitments to net zero by 2050 and very brave intermediate goals to track the progress towards 2050 goals. Coles have committed to 75% reduction by the end of 2030 (Inside Retail), Woolworths have committed to a 63% reduction by 2030 with no carbon offsets (Woolworths Group). As one end of the supply chain changes, the other end will need to comply to continue getting premiums for the quality product produced.

Why we are different.

At Improve Ag we are not influenced by what brands we have good relationships with, what makes us the most money, what is traditional or what is new and fun. There is only one influence on us, and that is science. We can hopefully show you exactly where and what you are gaining or losing by using different products and the opportunities gained or lost by using them.

At the end of the day, all these numbers really mean is that the industry is changing, and farmers will need to keep up or be left behind. Here at Improve Ag we are trying to keep as up to date as we can on new technologies and pass it on to you as the primary producer to achieve a more sustainable future without forgoing the realities of running a profitable business.
